I love this quote:
Life is a journey, and if you fall in love with the journey, you will be in love forever.
As you may know, the name of my page is Roxene’s Journey, and the reason I started my website was to share my life’s journey so far, to inspire even one person.
What’s new for me in 2026?
At this stage of my life, my younger friends say I should be cruising now, (in my twilight years), 😊they say they cannot keep up with me. But no, Dorit and Wallace’s one child is charting new paths, learning new things.
What is wrong with me? Only God knows.
Can I tell you, I plan to learn to play an instrument this year, I am thinking the clarinet and also to relearn sign language. I used to be able to communicate in sign language well, as my neighbour Katie, who is deaf, taught me, she lived next door. However, after she migrated, I didn’t have a reason to use it, so I will go back to learning it. I think it is an awesome means of communicating, that everyone should even know the basic way to communicate in sign language, with someone who is hearing impaired.
The end of my tenure with the JDF, is approaching, and I am looking forward to what is next. Yes, I have been asked if I am going to re-enlist. That is not an option I am contemplating, but in life you never say never. As Hondo from SWAT says, ‘Keep it liquid’ (yes I am a movie/TV nerd) always using quotes and scenes to make a point or be silly. Listen, life should include laughs always, no matter what.
Another quote I have been seeing since 2025, hit home and has altered my approach and attitude towards daily life and its varied situations.
Look for something positive in each day, even if some days you have to look harder.
We all have had those days that tried and tested our faith, our faith in ourselves, cast doubt and even made us question our purpose and existence (well, I have). But what I have learnt is when you take an honest look at yourself, put the emotion to one side, and assess the situation, take the lesson from it, you will be able to move forward having learnt and grown from that experience, no matter how hard it was and the lesson is never usually easy, but in my opinion, will benefit your journey.
I am, in 2026, like the quote I started with. Learning to fall in love with my journey, no matter what the road looks like. We should all approach life grateful with an open mind and heart. As singer PitBull says, ‘Every day above ground, is a good day’.
Just my 2Nicklecents, continue to Live, Love, Laugh.
Walk Good.
